UNCERTAIN GERMANIC TRIBES, Aurum Barbarorum. Late 3rd-early 4th centuries. 'Quinarius' (Electrum, 19 mm, 3.49 g, 4 h), 'Derived Gordian Group A'. NΛMXNNИ[...]IIYNYNΛVTN Bare imperial head to right (or a draped bust?). Rev. VNVNVN ΛYVΛ Eagle standing right, wings spread and head to left. Aurum Barbarorum II, 1875 (same dies). With original suspension loop. Very fine.

This interesting piece was cast in debased gold from a struck original such as the example in Aurum Barbarorum II 1875.
